What is Everbrite Protective Coating and ProtectaClear?Everbrite and ProtectaClear are unique crystal clear coatings that will seal metal and will prevent tarnish, corrosion, oxidation, salt air, salt water, rust and other damaging elements. Everbrite Coatings are very thin and natural-looking, it is not a thick or plastic looking coating. ProtectaClear is tougher and more scratch resistant than Everbrite and is recommended for use on interior metal to prevent tarnish and oxidation on copper, brass, silver, anodized aluminum, etc. Everbrite will remain flexible and will not crack, chip, peel or yellow with exposure to heat or sunlight. Polish the metal to the desired finish with your favorite polish. Some polishes have acid in them to clean the metal. If the polish has acid in it, the metal must be neutralized by washing it with calcium carbonate or baking soda and water. If the acid is not neutralized, it can react with the solvent in Everbrite, making black streaks. Remove any polish residue with solvents like xylene and denatured alcohol to make sure the metal is completely clean. Xylene and denatured alcohol can be purchased at paint stores or hardware stores. Once the metal is clean, Everbrite can be applied by aerosol can, spraying the coating on, wiping it on with an applicator, rolling it on with a high-density foam roller or dipping the metal into the coating. Let dry and enjoy. Back to TopCan I use the coating on my copper cookware? Both Everbrite and ProtectaClear are food safe once the coating is cured. Because ProtectaClear is a tougher coating, it is recommended for interior metal. If the cookware is heavily used or if metal whisks or utensils are used, the coating can be scratched off. Cooking on high heat may affect the coating. ProtectaClear is best if used on decorative copper but will be safe for occasional use. Back to TopWhat if the coating gets scratched? Can I fix it?If the coating is scratched, it can easily be fixed because Everbrite is self-annealing so it will blend to itself. Clean the scratched or abraded area and reapply the coating. It will not be noticeable once it is dried. Back to TopIs ProtectaClear safe to use on jewelry?Yes, ProtectaClear is safe to use on jewelry and will protect the jewelry from tarnish. ProtectaClear is tough and durable and is recommended for jewelry. Once the coating is cured, it is food safe, potable water safe and will not harm your skin. Everbrite will seal and protect the metal from body oils, salt and other damaging elements. Back to TopWill Everbrite and ProtectaClear prevent fingerprints?Yes, Everbrite and ProtectaClear will prevent most fingerprints on stainless steel, copper, brass and other metals. If extremely dirty or oily fingers touch the metal, fingerprints may show but can easily be cleaned off with mild soap and water. Back to TopCan I use ProtectaClear to keep my copper bar looking good?Yes, ProtectaClear is tough and durable will prevent water-spots, marks, fingerprints and tarnish on your copper bar or kitchen backsplash. ProtectaClear is self-annealing and will blend to itself so just the scratched area can be recoated and the repair will not show. Back to TopHow thick is the coating? The wet film thickness of Everbrite Coatings is half a mil and the dry film thickness is 3 to 5 microns. This provides excellent protection and allows the coating to remain flexible so it will expand and contract with the metal and will not crack, chip or peel like thicker coatings. Back to TopWill ProtectaClear change the tone of wind-chimes or musical instruments? No, ProtectaClear will not change the tone of musical instruments or wind-chimes. ProtectaClear is a very thin coating (3-5 microns), adds practically no weight (0.0003 lbs per square foot) and is very natural looking and the metal just looks like it is freshly polished.
